Exterior
To celebrate three decades of the Expedition, the 2027 model is available in a Platinum® trim that equips it with head-turning exterior garnishes. Among the most noticeable to Bellingham residents is a Blue Ember1 paint option, which is a lighter shade that is reminiscent of the Light Denim Blue tone that the SUV first launched with. Accenting it are various trim pieces, such as 20-inch Ebony bright-machine-finished alloy wheels, optional Black Onyx running boards, and signature taillamps. The sideview mirrors are also finished in black, and include power-folding as well as a ground illuminator as standard equipment.
Performance
Ticking away within the 2027 Ford Expedition is a standard 3.5L V62 engine that produces 400 horsepower and 480 lb.-ft. of torque, which are high for the class segment this SUV competes in. The optional High-Output 3.5L V6 powertrain2 utilizes advanced software mapping to strengthen its capabilities, adding the necessary muscle to make up to 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. Ford thought ahead by giving the Expedition standard Auto Stop-Start technology so that such large displacement doesn’t needlessly eat away at your car’s gas mileage. A standard 10-speed Selectshift® automatic transmission also improves fuel economy while allowing you to simulate manual gear shifts for a more connected driving experience on I-5.
Off-Roading
One look at the 2027 Ford Expedition tells you that it’s a capable off-roader, but we like to dive into the specifics as to why that is. One core reason has to do with its standard Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System™. The drivetrain alone is plenty capable on bumpy surfaces, and you can even tweak it based on what you need at the moment with selectable settings like Grass/Gravel/Snow, Sand, Mud/Ruts, and more.
